The CSHA collected data using interviews
and questionnaires; it undertook clinical, neurological and
neuropsychological examinations, and made physical measurements
of mobility and blood pressure. In addition, laboratory tests
were undertaken, and blood samples were collected for genetic
and other analyses. Finally, we abstracted information from
death certificates and provincial health care utilization
records for the study period.
The table provides an overview of
the data collected, and indicates the numbers of cases and
of variables in the various data sets to show the magnitude
of the study.
